In a context of climate change, it is no longer possible to continue to carry out projects and planning in agriculture using only observed climate data, typically 30-year series, assuming that the climate remains constant over time, without taking into account climate change scenarios and their uncertainty.

This course aims to provide engineers in agronomic, environmental and related areas with the acquisition of skills in the area of climate change, focusing in particular on the use of climate data related to climate change scenarios and learning methodologies for assessing impacts on water management in agriculture.

Goals

- Understanding the problem of climate change in irrigated agriculture;

- Acquisition of skills in using climate scenarios in design/planning;

- Acquisition of the ability to assess impacts and define adaptation measures;

- Learning how to use models for irrigation programming and management.

  • Contents

    - Introduction to climate change.

Recipients

Agricultural engineers and other technicians from design and consultancy companies, irrigation and farming associations, and public bodies, who wish to deepen their knowledge of the issues of climate change in water management in agriculture and the use of climate change scenarios.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of irrigation and Excel is recommended.
